MONDAY JUNE 04 2001
Abbey enterprise
FROM MR DAVID BURDEN
Sir, Westminster Abbey is not considering selling items commemorating the funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales (report, May 23). The Dean and Chapter would never seek to benefit from or exploit any of its ministry (including the funeral of Princess Diana). We certainly have no need of “rescue”.

Westminster Abbey Enterprises has signed a contract with a marketing group which will produce a Heritage Collection. It will draw on the Abbey’s extensive and hitherto largely unseen archives, but it is too early to speculate what that will include.

Yours faithfully,
DAVID BURDEN
(Receiver General and Chairman,
Westminster Abbey Enterprises Ltd),
The Chapter Office,
20 Dean’s Yard,
Westminster Abbey, SW1P 3PA.
June 1.
